Varying conical defects in Rotating Wormholes

arXiv:2412.18961

Abstract

We study a rotating wormhole whose conical deficit varies along the proper radial direction. The varying deficit produces a mixed Einstein equation and an additional near-axis stress that is absent for an ordinary constant-tension conical string. The same radial variation changes the scalar-wave problem: non-axisymmetric modes cease to separate into independent radial and angular equations and instead form coupled angular channels. We obtain the coupling coefficients in closed form, prove an exact parity selection rule, and derive the leading weak-defect channel-conversion amplitude. A finite-channel numerical calculation confirms the expected quadratic scaling of the conversion probability and shows stable low-channel results over the angular truncations tested.
