On the fundamental group of a spherical variety

Abstract

Let $X=G/H$ be a spherical variety over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p\ge 0$. We compute the $p^{\prime }$-parts of ${\pi }_0(H)$ and ${\pi }_1(X)$ from the spherical system of $X$.
