Resonance-like structure near the threshold in the {} reaction

Abstract
To investigate the interaction between the nucleon and nucleon resonance , the threshold structure connected to the isoscalar -wave - system has been experimentally studied in the {} reaction at incident photon energies ranging from the reaction threshold to 1.15 GeV. A strong enhancement is observed near the threshold over the three-body phase-space contribution in the invariant-mass distribution. An analysis incorporating the known isovector resonance with a spin-parity of in the channel reveals the existence of a narrow isoscalar resonance-like structure with in the system. Using a Flatté parametrization, the mass is found to be GeV, close to the threshold, and the width is , where denotes the momentum in the rest frame of the system. The observed structure would be attributed to a predicted isoscalar bound state from and coupled-channel calculation, or an virtual state owing to strong attraction.
