Abstract
The aim of this article is to give a survey of combination theorems occurring in hyperbolic geometry, geometric group theory and complex dynamics, with a particular focus on Thurston's contribution and influence in the field.
Final version, 47 pages, 9 figures. Parts of the survey are based on the papers arXiv:math/0611601, arXiv:0912.2715, arXiv:1901.02170 (for combination theorems in geometric group theory), and arXiv:2007.02429, arXiv:2010.11256, arXiv:2103.00835 (for combination theorems at the interface of complex dynamics and Kleinian groups)
