When is $(A+B{)}^{†}=A^{†}+B^{†}$?

Abstract

We address the question as to when it is true that $(A+B{)}^{†}=A^{†}+B^{†},$ where $†$ denotes the Moore-Penrose inverse. A similar question is addressed for the group inverse.
