Transverse asymmetry of ${\hat{I}}^3$ rays from neutron-induced compound states of ${}^{140}\mathrm{La}$

Abstract

A correlation term ${\ddot{I}ƒ}_n\cdot (k_n\times k_{\hat{I}}^3)$ in the ${}^{139}\mathrm{La}(\vec{n},{\hat{I}}^3)$ reaction has been studied utilizing epithermal polarized neutrons and germanium detectors. The transverse asymmetry for single ${\hat{I}}^3$-ray transition was measured to be $0.60\pm 0.19$ in the $p$-wave resonance.
