Abstract

The problem of finding the largest number of points in the unit cross-polytope such that the -distance between any two distinct points is at least is investigated for in dimensions and for in dimension . For the -dimensional cross-polytope, points can be placed when . For the three-dimensional cross-polytope, and points can be placed if and only if and respectively, and no more than points can be placed when . Also, constructive arrangements of points that attain the upper bounds of , , and are provided, as well as points for dimension when .
