Non-liftable Calabi-Yau varieties in characteristic $p\ge 5$

Abstract

Based on recent work of Totaro, we provide two simple constructions of non-liftable Calabi-Yau varieties in characteristic $p\ge 5$. Our examples are of dimension $2p$ and $2p+1$.
