Abstract

Let be the (unique) universal homogeneous -edge-coloured countable complete graph (), and its group of colour-preserving automorphisms. The group was shown to be simple by John Truss. We examine the automorphism group of , and show that it is the group of permutations of which induce permutations on the colours, and hence an extension of by the symmetric group of degree . We show further that the extension splits if and only if is odd, and in the case where is even and not divisible by~ we find the smallest supplement for in its automorphism group.
