Abstract
We study minimizers of the pseudo-relativistic Hartree functional under the mass constraint . Here is the mass of particles and is an external potential. We prove that minimizers exist if and only if satisfies , and there is no minimizer if , where is called the Chandrasekhar limit}. When approaches from below, the blow-up behavior of minimizers is derived under some general external potentials . Here we consider three cases of : trapping potential, i.e. satisfies ; periodic potential, i.e. stisfies for all ; and ring-shaped potential, e.g. for some .
