Abstract
A simple graph is \emph{overfull} if . By the pigeonhole principle, every overfull graph has . The \emph{core} of a graph, denoted , is the subgraph induced by its vertices of degree . Vizing's Adjacency Lemma implies that if , then contains cycles. Hilton and Zhao conjectured that if has maximum degree 2 and , then precisely when is overfull. We prove this conjecture for the case .
