Abstract

Let be a non--Archimedean local field of characteristic , and let , . An element is said to be quasi--regular if the centralizer of in is a product of field extensions of . Let be the set of quasi--regular elements of . For , we denote by the ordinary orbital integral on associated with . In this paper, we replace the Weyl discriminant by a normalization factor which allows us to obtain the same results as proven by Harish--Chandra in characteristic zero: for , the normalized orbital integral is bounded on , and for such that , the function is locally integrable on .
