Abstract
For integers , the truncated Boolean lattice is the poset of all subsets of which have size at least and at most . is a {\em cutset} if it meets every chain of length in , and the {\em width} of is the size of the largest antichain in . We conjecture that for the minimum width of a cutset in is , where is the number of level sets in and . We establish our conjecture for the cases of "short lattices" (, , and ). For "taller lattices" () our conjecture gives , independently of . Our main result is that if .
