Measurement of the $\hat{I}{ž}_b^{-}$ and $\hat{I}{\text{c◯}}_b^{-}$ baryon lifetimes

Abstract

Using a data sample of pp collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3\mathrm{f}{\mathrm{b}}^{-1}$, the $\hat{I}{ž}_b^{-}$ and $\hat{I}{\text{c◯}}_b^{-}$ baryons are reconstructed in the $\hat{I}{ž}_b^{-}\to J/\ddot{I}ˆ\hat{I}{ž}^{-}$ and $\hat{I}{\text{c◯}}_b^{-}\to J/\ddot{I}ˆ\hat{I}{\text{c◯}}^{-}$ decay modes and their lifetimes measured to be $\ddot{I}„(\hat{I}{ž}_b^{-})=1.55{}_{-0.09}^{+0.10}(\mathrm{stat})\pm 0.03(\mathrm{syst})$ ps, $\ddot{I}„(\hat{I}{\text{c◯}}_b^{-})=1.54{}_{-0.21}^{+0.26}(\mathrm{stat})\pm 0.05(\mathrm{syst})$ ps. These are the most precise determinations to date. Both measurements are in good agreement with previous experimental results and with theoretical predictions.
