Abstract

The reaction $^{17}$ O $(p, γ)^{18}$ F influences hydrogen-burning nucleosynthesis in several stellar sites, such as red giants, asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars, massive stars and classical novae. In the relevant temperature range for these environments ( $T_{9} = 0.01 - 0.4), t h e main co n t r ib u t i o n s t o t h er a t eo f t hi sr e a c t i o na r e t h e d i r ec t c a pt u r e p r ocess, tw o l o w l y in g na r r o w r eso nan ces ($ E_{r}=65.1 $an d 183 k e V) an d t h e l o w - e n er g y t ai l so f tw o b r o a d r eso nan ces ($ E_{r}=557 $an d 677 k e V) . No significant changes in the nucleosynthesis are expected from the newly calculated reaction rate.
