Abstract

A module is called H-supplemented if for every submodule of there is a direct summand of such that holds if and only if for any submodule of . (Equivalently, for each , there exists a direct summand of such that and .) Direct summands and sums of H-supplemented modules are studied and a question posed by Mohamed and Müller in 1990 is answered in the negative.
