Semi-algebraic functions have small subdifferentials

Abstract

We prove that the subdifferential of any semi-algebraic extended-real-valued function on ${\mathbb{R}}^n$ has $n$-dimensional graph. We discuss consequences for generic semi-algebraic optimization problems.
