On the algebraicity of the zero locus of an admissible normal function

Abstract

We show that the zero locus of an admissible normal function on a smooth complex algebraic variety is algebraic.

Added appendix on Tannakian Category of admissible nilpotent orbits in one variable with limit split over the reals. The appendix recovers an unpublished theorem of Deligne used in the body of the paper. Brosnan accidentally uploaded this revision as a revision to arXiv:1002.4422
