Trees, quaternion algebras and modular curves

Abstract

We study the action on the Bruhat-Tits tree of unit groups of maximal orders in certain quaternion algebras over ${\mathbb{F}}_q(T)$ and discuss applications to arithmetic geometry and group theory.
