Heavy b' and t' Decay

Abstract

Heavy $t^{\prime }\to bW$ is currently being searched for at the Tevatron, but a broader spectrum should be explored at the LHC. For $m_{b^{\prime }}<m_{t^{\prime }}$, we discuss the two decay branches, $b^{\prime }\to t{W}^{\ast }$ and $t^{\ast }W$, below the $tW$ threshold, and how they merge with $b^{\prime }\to tW$ above threshold. We use a convolution method with five body final state, and compare the production cross section with PYTHIA. This can be extended for a $b^{\prime }$ with mass heavier than $t^{\prime }$. A similar discussion is given for $t^{\prime }$ decay, considering $t^{\prime }\to b^{(\ast )}{W}^{(\ast )}$ processes, besides the $t^{\prime }\to bW$ considered by CDF.
