Production of or meson and its excited states via -quark or -quark decays

Abstract

The production of -quarkonium ( meson and its excited states) or -quarkonium ( meson and its excited states) via top quark or top anti-quark decays, or , respectively is studied within the framework of NRQCD. In addition to the production of the two color-singlet -wave states or and or , the production of the -wave excited or states, i.e. the four color-singlet -wave states or , and or (with ), is also studied. According to the velocity scaling rule of NRQCD, for the production of -wave excited states the contributions from the two color-octet components or and or are also taken into account. We quantitatively discuss the possibility and the advantages in experimental studies of or meson and its excited states via the indirect production at LHC in high luminosity runs and at LHC possible upgraded versions such as SLHC, DLHC, TLHC etc. in future.
