A boundary penalization technique to remove outliers from isogeometric analysis on tensor-product meshes
Quanling Deng, Victor Calo
We introduce a boundary penalization technique to improve the spectral approximation of isogeometric analysis (IGA). The technique removes the outliers appearing in the high-freque…
Automatic Variationally Stable Analysis for Finite Element Computations: Transient Convection-Diffusion Problems
Eirik Valseth, Pouria Behnoudfar, Clint Dawson +1
We establish stable finite element (FE) approximations of convection-diffusion initial boundary value problems using the automatic variationally stable finite element (AVS-FE) meth…
A fully-coupled framework for solving Cahn-Hilliard Navier-Stokes equations: Second-order, energy-stable numerical methods on adaptive octree based meshes
Makrand A Khanwale, Kumar Saurabh, Milinda Fernando +4
We present a fully-coupled, implicit-in-time framework for solving a thermodynamically-consistent Cahn-Hilliard Navier-Stokes system that models two-phase flows. In this work, we e…
A nonlinear weak constraint enforcement method for advection-dominated diffusion problems
Roberto J. Cier, Sergio Rojas, Victor M. Calo
We devise a stabilized method to weakly enforce bound constraints in the discrete solution of advection-dominated diffusion problems. This method combines a nonlinear penalty formu…
