Investigation of pair-correlated states in Ba via the Ba() reaction

Abstract
We performed a high resolution study of states in Ba using the Ba() two-neutron transfer reaction. Our experiment shows a significant portion of the pair-transfer strength concentrated at excited levels in Ba. Potential implications in the context of Xe Ba neutrinoless double beta decay matrix element calculations are briefly discussed.
